VegaPay & Mastercard highlight contactless payments through wearables
VegaPay, in collaboration with Mastercard, recently hosted the Tokenization and Wearable Workshop, marking a significant step forward in revolutionizing the payments ecosystem in Kenya.
The workshop showcased the pivotal role tokenisation plays in creating a more secure digital payments landscape, while also driving financial inclusion by ensuring that underserved communities can also benefit from cutting-edge payment solutions.
Over 20 major banks participated in the event, where Mastercard representatives; Shehryar Ali, Senior Vice President and Country Manager, East Africa and Indian Ocean Islands; Victor Ndlovu, Head of Business Development, East Africa and Dickson Chemjor, Digital Lead, East and West Africa, shed light on the future of payments and underlined the value of MDES and tokenization technology.
Paul Mpando, CEO VegaPay, presented innovative range of payment wearables, including rings, watch bands, key fobs, and both leather and silicone bracelets. He said: “Together with like-minded partners, we have entered into the new world of contactless tokenized payments which are trusted, secure, fashionable & fast!”
